The last bus ride back to Dar was a mind numbing 12 hours the first day and 8 hours the second, seriously. I think because we knew it was our last, somehow made it the worst??! As time dragged and was so annoying that Jason and I hardly spoke through frustration!! LOL
However being back in Dar was so comfortable, re-visiting our familiar restaurants and hang out spots made it feel, all too real that we were leaving, considering this was the place where it all started two odd months ago!
We were fortunate enough to also meet up with a good friend Eddie, who was responsible for hooking us up with our host family in Morogoro. Eddie had finished his placement and was also getting ready to leave TZ just days after we left and as destiny would have it he was passing through Dar for the weekend and was staying at the same lodge we were! He was with two other friends from the Peace Corp – Nick who had completed his two year placement and Katie who was just beginning hers.

We basically hung out for the next day or so, eating and drinking our way around Dar while discussing our adventures and sharing our observations on TZ life and people. We even dared to walk the desolate streets of Dar at 2 in the morning! (ooh, hardnuts!!) Although the amount of cockroaches on the streets at this time is shocking and let me not even start on the rats that are the size of cats!!
