Tubing!!

Vang Vieng set around beautiful mountains
We then decided to head north to Vang Vieng, which is on every young person’s agenda when here and being that Jason and me are young still.. ;D we figured, to check it out…Sure enough Vang Vieng lived up to expectations..
Quite literally this place is hedonism! With the main attraction is - getting twisted!
There are bars and eateries along the main strip, and loads of them are video bars playing non-stop episodes of Friends and Family Guy! Love it!
The clubs kick off late and lure you in with buy one get one free bucket’s of cocktails – yes I said, buckets of cocktails (small buckets from which one, can get you about 4/5 drinks) These babies are lethal, as we found out one night..! Oh and some hotels give free shots!
Our accommodation was sweet and only cost us £10 a night.
Can't go wrong for £10!!
Bedroom included A/C, mosquito nets, satellite TV..

Our balconey

Vang Vieng goes along the Nam Song River which provides this region with its main source of tourism – kayaking, boat trips and the best attraction – tubing! Jason and I spent one whole day doing this and it’s such a laugh.
You basically float down the river, led by the rivers currents in a big rubber ring, drinking at the bars lined along the edge! The bar staff, throw you a rope with a plastic bottle or small rubber ring attached and pull you into their bar, where almost always, there are free shots of Tiger Whiskey on your arrival!

Nam Song River
The ‘tubing route’ is 3km long and supposed to roughly take a couple of hours it took us basically the best part of the day!
And its was such jokes, ‘cos this activity although fun can actually be dangerous as people lose their lives every year doing it, so Jason being the sensible man that he is, (and the fact he’s a sinker not a swimmer!!).. hired himself a lifejacket and along with his ‘let’s get tubing’ red headband tied around his forehead and his dark blue life jacket on, he looked like a teenage mutant ninja turtle wearing it and was the only one on the river with one on, however he got enough respect for it! With one guy actually commenting “You probably mate, are the most sensible person here!” LMAO
But besides the drinking the views are golden of the scenery around and the drunkards by the end of the day….!!
Sadly no photo’s as we didn’t buy a disposable camera..big regret! Another lesson learnt!
